Continue to provide military aid to Ukraine
Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. The US and NATO allies have provided military and economic support to Ukraine. The war has caused enormous destruction and casualties. Ukraine has resisted but not expelled Russian forces. There is debate about how much ongoing support the US should provide, for how long, and under what conditions.
Arguments For & Against
Pro Argument
Russia's invasion of Ukraine is an illegal act of aggression that threatens the post-WWII international order. Supporting Ukraine is essential to deter future aggression by Russia and China. If aggression succeeds, it will be repeated. The cost of US support is small compared to the cost of a wider war.
Con Argument
Continuing to pour money and weapons into Ukraine risks escalating the conflict into a direct confrontation between nuclear powers. We should push for a negotiated settlement rather than prolonging a destructive war with no clear end.
